'Biodiversity- our Pride and our Responsibility

The countdown to WED began from 21st May...as part of 'UMANG (the Summer Camp)- meaning enthusiasm n joy to do our bit because we care.. . and feel committed to our Prithvi for all that it provides us so generously.

Besides the regular sessions on dance n theatre, we planned five workshops for rural children on from 21st May to 27th may on various themes like 'Tussi Great Ho...SUNGOD'-( an interesting action-oriented workshop on harnessing solar energy where the children learned to make low-cost Solar cooker and actually use it for preparing their daily meal. We all made yumpy dal chawal in this solar cooker and it’s a wonderful experience t use solar energy for cooking n actually taste it…

'Biodiversity- our Pride and our Responsibility-organized an eco-tour to the Giant Banyan tree around 20 kms from IIM near a village near Chandrika Devi Temple. The visit aimed to educate and sensitize the children about the importance of Forests and Biodiversity, besides providing an excellent opportunity for them to unwind, enjoy and work as team in the lap of Nature. Children with the senior members from Prithvi Innovations had a total fun time with loads of learning.

The visit had lot of plus points as it was well-thought of, well-timed and had a perfect mix of fun n learning. .Conducted various activities like Bravehearts, Prithvi Ki KHoj, Measuring the Banyan tree, etc…to help the children appreciate, respect and care for their natural resources - some pics:

ON THE WHEELS --organized a cycle tour and a nature walk in and around Eldeco Towne and IIM Lucknow to familiarize the children about the various species of birds...the common ones which we normally see around us...This interesting bird-watching and identifying activity was full of fun and learning...

BEST OF MUSIC OUT OF WASTE-- inspired by the melodious notes of the birds the participants were guided to create beautiful musical instruments like rattles, shakers, drums, flute, bongo, etc.. out of waste materials like plastic cups, paint buckets, matkas, pots, pet bottles, broom sticks and balloons and then the teams composed their own musical msg on environment and presented their musical compositions...

TIME TO ACT: the participants formed small groups and discussed various eco-issues and wrote stories and enacted short plays to convey their message ...they also planned some eco-games which they would be playing on 4th-5th june and involving more people to think and act...
