Functional Area
The participants should select one of the following area of study for the SMART green action project:
  • Protect the Rich Biodiversity
  • Reduce / Reuse / Recycle Waste
  • Be Energy Smart
  • Be Water Smart
Project Time Frame
  • The project period is 23 rd of May 2010 - 31st of May 2010.
  • The final report on the SMART green action project should be submitted by 1st of June 2010.
  • Results will be declared on 5th June 2010.
Steps to start the project
  • Make a team of 2 people.
  • Select your guide (it can be your parents, teachers, neighbors etc.)
  • Select one of the key areas (Functional Area - mentioned above) and choose appropriate title.
  • Plan your project with the help of your guide.
  • Work on your project between 23rd May 2010 - 31st May 2010.
  • Prepare project report, not more than 6 A4 pages, based on the answers to the given in the Project Guidelines by Prithvi (It should be written on both sides of A4 sheet and include annexs -i.e. supporting documents-photos, graphs, pictures etc.)
  • Write a cartoon story describing the problem (your project) and its solution and submit it along with the project report.
Guidelines for Project Report

The project should address the following questions and report should provide answers to the given questions in the given sequence:
  • TITLE- What is the title of your project.
  • WHAT- Provide a summary/ describe your project wants to do in few sentences.
  • WHY-OBJECTIVES- Why-Purpose -What inspired you to undertake your project? What are the goals of your project?
  • HOW- The Action Plan- How-Steps taken-What will you do to accomplish your goals and how ? Give the detailed plan,specifying clearly the work to be done.
  • WHEN- Give the time-frame for each activity you will undertake .
  • WHERE-Give complete details of the scope of work or the area of work choose by you—home, surroundings, office,school..
  • IMPACT -Visible Achievements-What milestones will you achieve (with dates)? Other indirect benefits. What will you, the school and the society gain from your project?
  • VISIBLE OUTCOME– actual proof or figures n facts supported by some items.
  • RESOURCE POOL-List the resources/supporting materials/Money that you will require for this project as annexure.
  • GUIDE/FACILITATOR-details about the person who will be your guide.
  • SUPPORTERs Who else will contribute to your project’s success?
  • FUTURE PLAN: How will this experience change you and your school?
  • What are your plans for the future? How do you plan to continue or follow-up on it.
  • REFERENCE DETAILS:Give the phone number, occupation & email address of any organization, adult who knows about your project, and would be helping you in any way in implementing it.
  • Your contact details.
  • Attach any other information which you think is important to highlight, in case of your project.

Important Points to Note
  • You are already registered for this contest and know what the award program is about.
  • You have started to prepare an entry based upon an environmental project for a team up to 2 individuals.
  • You have an adult that will act as a referee for the group and guarantor that the young people have undertaken the work.
  • The standard of competition is high and you should be aware of and accept the judging rules. These rules apply to all entries to the competition.
  • The messages in the cartoons must be written in English.
  • Your cartoon strip must not be larger than A4. remember to keep your team details and contact information with your submission.
  • The team members must be between the ages of 10 to 12 during the competitions start and close dates. This means that it is possible for team members to be 9 years old when the competition starts as long as they are 10 when the competition closes. It is possible for 12 year olds to enter the competition even if they turn 13 before the competition close date.
  • The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into and no appeals will be considered.
  • Any evidence that you have falsely represented your work will lead to disqualification.
  • Only work undertaken, organised and designed by young people will be accepted.
  • Adults can be involved with the group, but only as facilitators.
  • Incomplete projects will not be accepted for judging.
  • Projects not fitting the format requested on the entry form will not be accepted for judging.

  1. Invited as a Resource Person by UNEP and Japan Organizing Committee for the ‘Children’s World Summit on Environment’ held from 26th July to 29th July2005 as part of World Expo 2005 in Japan.
  2. Presented a paper on ‘Education for ‘Sustainable Development in the International Conference on Education For Sustainable Future’ (ESF), held from 18th to 20th Jan.2005, in Ahmedabad India, to mark the beginning of the Decade for ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) as declared by UNESCO.

  5. Anuradha Gupta of Prithvi represented India and Clean Up the World, as a Resource Person, to take sessions on ‘Biodiversity’ for delegates, in ‘ The Tunza International Children’s Conference on Environment-2004’, held from 19th July to 24th July, 04 at New London, Connecticut, USA.

About Prithvi Innovations

Prithvi Innovation is an NGO formed in 2001 by Anuradha Kumar Gupta, one of the prominent educationist and social worker from Lucknow. The main concept behind the formation of this NGO was to help the underprivileged persons of our country.
